Oh, bless the heavens, it’s time for Sarah Rees Brennan to ruin me once again.
Hello, Readers! Whilst I was on tour (and I’ll have a post about that up by tomorrow), the lovely Natalie (WHO I MET IN NEW YORK OMG!) commissioned me to start The Demon’s Lexicon trilogy that Sarah Rees Brennan wrote before Unspoken. I reviewed that book in two parts early this year after I fell in love with the story because of a thing I can’t spoil you for. Suffice to say, it was a surprising and entertaining read, so when Natalie commissioned this, I was pretty damn excited to start reading it.
Here’s what I know about The Demon’s Lexicon:
- what
Dude, I didn’t even know it existed until I read Unspoken. (PS: Hurry up and give me Untold, Sarah, because I NEED MORE ANGELA AND KAMI AND JARED REALLY REALLY SOON kthx u rule.) So I went into this book with that sort of ignorant abandon that always gets me in trouble and WHO STARTS THEIR BOOK OFF THIS WAY WHAT THE HELL.
Chapter 1, Part 1
Chapter 1, Part 2
Chapter 2, Part 1
Chapter 2, Part 2
So, right off the bat, I’m kind of totally into this world, its matter-of-fact presentation, the INCREDIBLY FUCKED UP nature of it, and the dichotomy presented by the two brothers? IDEK Y’ALL, THIS IS PRETTY FUN ALREADY. I don’t feel like I’m properly in the book just yet, but I’m actually going to continue reading these books as I did for John Scalzi’s Redshirts. My next commission is for chapter 16 and 17, so I’ll just break the book up into a few reviews per book. It’s fun to do something extra for y’all, and Sarah Rees Brennan feeds off our collective pain, so why not? So you can definitely expect 3-4 posts per book for the trilogy, and the next ones will be more review-y. If that makes any sense? I HOPE IT DOES.
If you’re interested in seeing a live reading from this book, you’re welcome to commission any chapter from me, but I don’t want folks to feel like they have to in order to get more reviews. All of next week’s posts are done already, so I’m spending the next three days getting commissions out of the way, and I don’t mind taking on a bit more at this point. Plus, WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON, WHERE IS THE DAD, WHAT IS UP WITH THE MOM H E L P.
Well, I’ve gotten myself into this. Here goes nothing!
Extraordinarily educative thank you, I believe your trusty readers may want even more information such as this carry on the fantastic effort.
