Mark Reads ‘The Ordinary Princess’

Hey y’all! I don’t always make posts for commission BUT I NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS BOOK. That’s right, I read an entire book in one sitting which is a REALLY RARE THING FOR ME TO DO. Let’s talk about M.M. Kaye’s The Ordinary Princess.

So, here are the videos for this fabulous book. Allyndra commissioned this from me, and I was determined to get it published before Comic-Con. I had never read this book, and Allyndra told me she adored this book as a child. Well, wait, she still does, but I meant that this book is quite significant to her. SO I READ IT. AND I LOVED IT.

SO I KIND OF REALLY NEED TO KNOW HOW MANY OF YOU READ THIS BOOK. Is this another thing that everyone read and I just simply missed out on? Because I LOVE THIS. I love the idea that Amy was so wonderful because she was who she was, and that Peregrine found her attractive not because she fit the standard forms of beauty, but because she was “ordinary.” Plus, this story is like a fairy tale with the “fairy tale” parts only at the beginning and the end. (Considering that’s the only time there’s magic, even though Crustacea shows up in the middle.)

TALK TO ME ABOUT THIS BOOK.

Hi, I’ve been a long time lurker ever since you started reading Tamora Pierce’s books. I love listening to you read these, and I love your reviews! They give me a chance to think of childhood (and adult) favorites in a new light. I’ve also been working my way through your back log. I was so excited to see that you read The Ordinary Princess! It was also a childhood favorite of mine that I read and re-read. It’s been some time, so I am looking forward to listening to you read it. I don’t know anyone else who knows of it!
