Oh shit, IT’S PREDICTION TIME. This should be rewarding and satisfying! And by “rewarding and satisfying, what I really mean is “frustrating and pointless.” That is 100% canon, by the way.
So, let’s address the predictions I made for volume 5:
- Okay, so it seems that each volume picks up some tiny grain of a story left behind and expands on it. Let’s start with a general prediction and say that this volume is based on a plot or character from a past issue. FUCK YES I WAS RIGHT. 1/1
- I think volume five will focus on either Nuala or Loki. I GET BONUS POINTS IF IT’S BOTH. DAMN. NEITHER. Though Nuala showed up! 1/2
- We will see an intervention from Despair. Nope. But Death was at the end, breaking my heart. 1/3
- There won’t be any interludes or story tangents in volume 5. (I’m guessing that because it feels shorter than most of the other volumes.) I WAS CORRECT omg. 2/4
- Even if it doesn’t focus on Nuala or Loki, we’ll find out what Dream did with them after giving Hell to the Angels. Sort of? We know he is keeping Nuala around for… company? I get half a point. 2.5/5
- Satan will have a cameo. nope. 2.5/6
- “A Game of You†will be about identity. Holy shit, it totally is. OMG. 3.5/7
- The cover I have features a disjointed face in the shape of house, and I think that we’ll learn something in this issue that might possibly explain why this cover looks like this. Um, can I justify this? It’s about the house Barbie lives in where five women all feel disjointed and torn, and this cover represents that. BOOM. 4.5/8
- Everything is going to be fucked up. Was that even an option? Of course it was. 5.5/9
- And creepy. GEEEEOOORRGGGGEEEE. 6.5/10
- We’ll see Dream in the form of a woman and an animal in this volume. NOPE. 6.5/11
- I’m unprepared. DISGUSTINGLY SO. 7.5/12
THAT’S NOT SO BAD. I FEEL GOOD ABOUT THAT. Now I shall not feel good!
Mark’s Predictions For Volume 6 of The Sandman
- So, based on the title, “Fables & Reflections,” plus the fact that the issue numbers are kind of all over the place, I’m guessing that this volume collects nothing but one-off stories. NO SERIALIZED NARRATIVES.
- Given that (OH GOD PLEASE LET ME BE RIGHT OR ALL OF THESE ARE WRONG), I’d like to predict for single issues.
- One will be a horror story, or at least something unbelievably scary/creepy.
- One will be purely comical/funny.
- One will address Satan.
- One will address Loki.
- One will address the Faerie world.
- One will bring back Shakespeare.
- One will concern one of the Eternal.
- Two issues will use DC characters.
- Jesus, I got nothin’ else.
Well, that should be 100% wrong. AND ONWARDS I GO.
